Launched in 2014 by SUNMAN Energy, eArc is the world’s first glassless solar module. This new generation of lightweight, thin and flexible modules is an innovation combining proven crystalline silicon solar cells with SUNMAN’s patented composite material. This composite material has the durability and robustness of glass, without any of the weight. eArc is the go-to solar solution for all roofs that cannot bear the load or uplift associated with glass solar panels, including but not limited to insulated panel roofs, lightweight metal roofs, awnings, carports and more.
The D series is equipped with a 5.6 mm ultra-thin aluminum frame. D series modules can be installed via quick-bonding or mechanical fixing, making it suitable for a variety of low load and impenetrable roofs.
The B series is equipped with a 35 mm aluminum frame. B series modules can be installed with conventional mounting hardware and applied to roofs with insufficient weight bearing for glass modules.
Unlike conventional glass modules, installation of D series does not involve penetrating or compromising the waterproofing membrane of the roof. Instead, D series modules are bonded onto the surface via adhesives. D series is extremely suited towards lightweight corrugated metal roofs, glass roofs and polymer roofs.
B series can be installed the same way as conventional glass modules with mounting hardware. This is the perfect solution for installers that want to leverage the eArc's lightweight feature without undergoing additional installation training.
The weight of F series sits at 2.8 kg/m² with a minimum bending radius of 0.5m. The frameless design also removes the need for earthing a frame. F series can be bonded to the surface of vehicles or integrated with single-ply roofing membranes, such as TOP, PVC and EPDM.
eArc is the go-to solution for roofs that suffer from structural issues. An estimated 40% of commercial and industrial roofs lack the minimum load capacity to support conventional glass modules. Glass modules can only be installed when buildings have a minimum load capacity of 15 kg/m². When buildings fall under this threshold, additional structural strengthening is required for solar to be installed, which is costly and disruptive to on-site business activities.
Roof membranes, such as TPO and PVC, are becoming increasingly popular waterproof covers for commercial roofs. Due to penetration issues, waterproofing membranes cannot accommodate conventional glass modules. By bonding eArc to these roofs, new solar generation capacity can be created.
Conventional and rigid glass modules cannot be installed on roofs with curved angles. On the other hand, eArc modules can be bonded directly to these roof types. Moreover, the flexibility of eArc modules complements the curvature of these buildings, providing an aesthetic solar solution.
Glass roofs typically cannot accommodate the penetrative installation methods associated with conventional glass modules. However, eArc can be bonded on top of glass roofs, unlocking the solar energy generation potential of such structures.
Through replacement of glass and optimisation of the frame, eArc weighs 70% less than conventional PV panels.
eArc reduces installation cost by up to 50% through its re-engineered components, ease of handling and shorter installation time.
Aesthetically designed panel that is PID-free, safe and emits no light pollution.
eArc panels are certified to withstand maximum test load (2400 pascal), while special materials and stringent quality control ensure panel longevity.
The solar energy carport generates enough energy in one hour to power an electric vehicle for some 30km while offering protective shade, for effortless charging at home.
